Moving Targets: Understanding our Changing Landscape

The Quezon City Librarians Association Inc. (QCLAI) is pleased to announce the conduct of a seminar-workshop entitled “Moving Targets: Understanding our Changing Landscape” on October 21-22, 2008 (Tuesday and Wednesday) 8:00 am – 5:00 pm at Quezon City Public Library Main, Quezon City Hall Complex, Diliman, Q.C.

This seminar-workshop is designed toward providing librarians/information specialists the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to survive and thrive as our company hones its competitive edge, with a strong focus on managing changes in latest practices, procedures and systems in the workplace. It will also show best practices of selected libraries employing Web 2.0 in their workplace with actual demonstration and some computer hands-on.

DAY 1 - KEEPING UP WITH CHANGE
  • Know the major activities that contributes to effective change management
  • Knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by librarians to cope with change.
  • Preparing users cope with change

Day 2 – WORKING WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES & ENVIRONMENTS
  • Traditional vs. non-traditional sources
  • Develop Web 2.0 for libraries/information centers
  • Develop Pathfinders

Speakers will be Professor Robert B. Catli from Commission on Audit and Mr. Ron Cabunagan of Ateneo High School Media Center.

Seminar fee of two thousand five hundred pesos (Php 2,500) per participant includes course materials (a choice of CD or handouts), lunches, snacks, and certificates. Payments in cash or checks shall be payable to Quezon City librarians Association, Inc. on or before the registration.
